Occupational Therapy Los Angeles

What Is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy focuses on helping patients develop skills that allow them to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Effective occupational therapy helps patients acclimate to their environment and develop the abilities that will enable them to accomplish their goals. Though a majority patients who participate in occupational therapy are young children, or those with disabilities, anyone could be a candidate potential for therapy.

It’s important to understand that occupational therapy decreases the influence of disabilities and improves quality-of-life through autonomy, dynamic activities, and leisure. Omix is home to occupational therapists who work with local organizations and family members to evaluate the client’s developmental and functional characteristics.

Our Process

Patients who come to us for care begin with an evaluation from one of our qualified therapists. Customized care programs are developed based on the results of the evaluation. The program provides clients with prescribed therapeutic activities. These activities are meant to develop or rehabilitate cognitive skills and motor functions that will allow patients to complete daily tasks and demonstrate behavior that is fundamental to day-to-day life. In the medical community, these fundamentals are sometimes referred to as activities of daily living (ADL). ADL’s could include walking to the grocery store or playing the piano, depending on the patient and their lifestyle. Omix utilizes a collaborative approach to developing life skills for patients. We work with physicians and our network of therapists to provide the necessary care for a broad range of patients.
